Hey Friends! My name is Rita. I am a proud Author, Novelist (pseudonym), Podcaster, and Wellness Coach.
My Background
I created my very first book in elementary school. As a class project, I wrote a short book, and the teacher helped me create two hard covers out of cardboard and contact paper to bind the book. It was called, The Girl Who Went to Beachland. I still have that book today. I’ll post pictures. 🙂
Throughout high school and college, I fell in love with writing again as a creative outlet. My first “official” independently published book was a collection of poems that I shared at many spoken-word events in the Durham/Raleigh area and in Baltimore. I eventually branched out to host my own annual poetry events in April for National Poetry Month and featured my work at multiple author expos and book festivals.
The Boring Stuff
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Business (English minor)
I have a Master’s degree in Publishing
I’m the Creative Director for Bewell Publishing LLC
My post-graduate certificate studies included personal training, nutrition coaching, and wellness coaching.
The Good Stuff
I’m a passionate advocate for literacy, wellness, and positive mental health. My non-fiction work is my on-going voice in this space. My life’s mission, or at least what I believe it to be right now, is to help as many people as I can live a healthier, more balanced life.
From a very young age, I’ve been fascinated by the ways our thoughts, habits, and lifestyles shape our well-being. Curious as ever, I felt led on a journey to explore the world of wellness—from nutrition, mindfulness and emotional health. Along the way, I’ve discovered that true wellness is about more than just physical health—it’s about nurturing all aspects of ourselves.
As a wellness author, my writing is inspired by both research and personal experience. I believe in offering practical, science-backed advice while also sharing insights from my own journey. Whether you’re looking to improve your daily habits, manage stress, or take a more holistic approach to your health, my goal is to offer tools and inspiration that make wellness feel attainable and sustainable.
What’s in it for You?Â
I write to empower you in your wellness journey. My books, podcast and other resources are meant to help you take small but meaningful steps toward lasting change. Whether it’s embracing mindfulness, learning how to set healthy boundaries, or discovering new ways to nourish your body and mind, I try to offer practical advice that you can use right away.
One of those resources is my blog themindfulbrew.com.
The focus, certainly not quick-fixes or promises of overnight happiness, is on creating balanced, realistic approaches to wellness that work for real, often busy, people. I believe that wellness isn’t a one-size-fits-all journey, and I aim to offer content that supports a wide variety of needs and lifestyles. Lifestyles I’d love to hear about by the way. Connect with me and tell me who you are.
Why I Write
Writing is my way of sharing what I’ve learned and helping others find their own path to wellness. Over the years, I’ve worked with friends and family, and I’ve seen firsthand how small, intentional changes can create big shifts in overall well-being. It was actually the life-change of a good friend that encouraged me to pursue certification, so that I can formally help others.
I also write because I believe that health isn’t just about the body—it’s about the mind, the heart, who you are instinctually and who you want to become. When we’re aligned in all these areas, we can unlock our full potential for living a meaningful, fulfilling life. I hope my books inspire you to take action, embrace self-care, and truly honor yourself in the process.
